PLUS: The best Peacock streaming deal yet; I'm coming for your soda (your wallet will thank me); beware this shady Amazon practice; my reviews of 'Lessons in Chemistry' and 'Smartless: On the Road.'
"As a rule, I don’t like TV shows and movies about unlikeable people behaving badly."
This is me too. Everyone loves the Yellowstone series, but I had to bail on it after 4 episodes. While I can see the entertainment value, there were no 'good' characters and it's not what I want to watch. Probably won't try Succession.
Thanks Rick. I like your writings. I'm not buying every product, but I certainly have a few based on your recommendation ( and the bargain price ! ). I recall when many places started TAXING soft drinks and the Soda Stream was born ! I did not buy one, but I thought about it. I may yet do so. Making your own fizzy drinks with KNOWN ingredients would be much healthier and probably cost less. I may start bring my own powered mixes to restaurants. The $3+ for drinks is getting outrageous, especially knowing they may have 25 to 50 cents invested in it !
Totally agree on outrageous soda pricing now in eateries; that also applies to "ice tea" which is equally just chemicals and millions of ice cubes for sometimes OVER $4.00 a glass here in NYC metro area. Keep it: water for me.
Appreciate your reviews and often agree, but we gave up on succession because of the family members' ugly, reprehensible characters. Never felt good after watching each episode. Can't recall another series where that's happened.
Guessing you might be new here? :) I'll freely admit that Deal Secrets is about more than just deals, or at least it's more than just a list of discounted items. There are plenty of those to be found elsewhere; my goal is to share personal experiences, helpful tips, hands-on reviews, and so on.
Do I also indulge myself by talking books, movies, TV, and the like? I do, and readers seem to like that. (Some... not all, obviously :)
What's more, some weeks there just aren't many straight-up deals worth sharing. I don't want to force it; I'm not going to, for example, run yet another Amazon Echo Dot deal, because the Echo Dot goes on sale every five minutes.
Anyway, hope that helps to explain things a bit. And I'll try to remember you came here for deals, not "Rick has thoughts about things," lol.

Interesting! Hadn’t heard that about Yellowstone, everybody loves it so much. 😱

Yeahhhh... I almost gave up for the same reasons. My wife did. :)
She & I are not morally superior in any way!
Put your opinions on forests books, tv services and carbonated beverages in a separate newsletter. Where are the deals?
