Another option on Rakuten is to get you money back in AMEX Membership Rewards Points. If used correctly those could be worth double the cash back amount for travel if you are so inclined. YMMV.

I agree that Rakuten is great. I have been getting cash back from them for years without a problem.

I've always made sure my cart is empty before going through a cash back portal to make sure my purchase counts. Do you know if there is any merit to this?

So I probably should have googled it first and shared my findings haha.

"Additionally, some stores do not allow us to link a purchase to your Rakuten account if items were added to your shopping cart before you activated Cash Back. It’s best to activate Cash Back before adding items to your cart and check out as soon as you can." https://www.rakuten.com/help/article/why-didn-t-i-earn-cash-back-360036367393

As a dedicated Rakuten (formerly Ebates which was a MUCH better name) user, I couldn’t agree more, Rick! A definite no-brainer for me as I’ve racked up literally hundreds in savings over the years. Thanks so much for traveling the Cheapskate road & helping so many of us save hard-earned $$ 👏👏 Sure do appreciate you!

Did you see the Twitter thread? There were LOTS of different recommendations. A lot of them were running shoes, which I didn't want...
