Hey Rick! Another great episode. Thank You for your great newsletters. It’s remarkable how much that you can include in your email. Every issue gives me a wide range of thoughts/ideas and products. Keep it up!
Thanks for these wonderful newsletters, Rick. Perfect timing on the sleep masks! I've been dissatisfied with mine and ready to try another.
One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is one of those can openers that cuts around the outside of the can lid instead of into the top. No contact between the contents and the surface of the lid or with any part of the opener (no contamination, no cleanup); plus: no sharp edges! it even has a grabber to lift the lid away. There was a brief learning curve, but I can't go back to "normal" can openers now. Here's one example (not the one I have): https://www.amazon.com/Kuhn-Rikon-Safety-Smooth-Opener/dp/B000I7GST2/
I found my current iPhone on Swappa. I'm happy with it but it was a long, sometimes frustrating process, and along the way I encountered a seller that ghosted both me AND Swappa, and learned that Swappa has looser rules for commercial volume resellers than for individuals. I suggest looking for individuals selling recent models after an upgrade, reading between the lines, and asking questions (Swappa makes that easy).
we were in Iceland last year, just about every hotel we stayed in had decent blackout curtains. something seems just wrong with the sun shining away at 11pm.
re used Phones: same as you, I'm leery of refurbed/used due to battery life issues. I've primarily used Apple refurbs due to new battery, case, screens and have been more than happy with the value I've gotten. Purchased one iPad from Declutter, and yup, the battery was weak; in a year's time it didn't last through a day's use, but they did buy it back from me at a good price
Swappa does list battery percentage now, which is a plus. I don't see battery health/percentage on Back Market, though.
I am a side sleeper. 100% works amazingly. It never falls off. I have tried every sleep mask on the market, I promise, and I have no affiliation with this company. This is your winner!!!
Ahhhh and yet another reason i like Rick so much... Monty Python and the Holy Grail! Sadly, I have the movie memorized (but not the opening credits, like "the moose bit my sister")
You need a weighted sleep mask with no straps at all! The NodPod is amazing. I have two (keep one in my luggage so I never forget it when travelling): https://nodpod.com
The first search result is "Shopback.my," which is a completely different service. Also, as noted, ShopBack is new to the U.S. (like, within weeks), so it probably doesn't have any ratings on TrustPilot just yet.

My favorite kitchen must-have are these silicone nesting liquid measuring cups. They are both microwave and dishwasher safe. They are squeezable so you can coax thicker liquids out of the cup a little easier. And they are cooler to the touch than glass coming out of the microwave. It's amazing how much I use these. And, since this is Deal Secrets, you can get a set on clearance at QVC, plus they're offering free shipping over Labor Day weekend! https://www.qvc.com/qvc.product.K74345.html?colorId=172&sizeId=000&ref=GBA&CID=GGL-SP-GGL|SP|CookingDining|KIT|PLA|X|X|Static|X|DEV|X|X|X&e4=DEV&e5=PLA&e6=KIT&e7=17219418139&e8=CjwKCAjw3MXBBhAzEiwA0vLXQXYY01KDR2rTvq-mPU7jnOm_jQsoDvaOB4NBL1gB6t44xFK_UhXZeBoCPZAQAvD_BwE&e9=SRCH&e10=PROD&e11=2273095762&e12=136005733345&e13=aud-1297697312313:pla-784385436477&e17=K74345-172-000&e24=g&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17219418139
Love that 3-pack of eye masks. I bought a set for the hubs and I for a trip to Iceland during the summer solstice and they worked like a dream!

Same, though not all blackout curtains are created equal. I LOVED having the sun up all the time, but I don’t think I could do it longterm.
i want to go back & see the northern lights.

Another great email! This was a big one but still a quick read.

Someday we’ll have to see who can quote more of the movie. I’m pretty good. 😜
Then you must know the capital of Assyria.
I don't know that! 😂

Not sure it would work for a side sleeper! 🤷♂️
For some reason my comment posted above. I am a side sleeper and it works perfectly!! Nod Pod for the win.
I always pay attention to you Rick but ShopBack gets some pretty horrible reviews on TrustPilot.
Hmmm...not sure which listing you're seeing, but the rating for ShopBack Australia, at least, is pretty solid. Same for Germany. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/shopback.com.au
I didn't specify a region, just shopback. The comments there seemed to be from the US

Sleepmask, Dohm, Earplugs
Sleepmask, Dohm (IYKYK), Earplugs
It goes without saying that this is not the "for looks" combo. ;-)
I don't "K," please enlighten :)
