Sleep secret: My favorite pillow of all time is $79 at Amazon but $38 here
It's a Consumer Reports top pick, too. PLUS: The SwitchBot item tracker is down to just $12 (save $13).

QUICK HITS
💳 Find your lost thing: Months back I told you about the SwitchBot Wallet Finder Card, an AirTag-like item tracker with the added capability of being able to find your misplaced phone (when it’s within Bluetooth range). Already a good deal at $25, it was on sale for just $17. Now, for a limited time, and while supplies last, the SwitchBot Wallet Finder Card drops to just $11.99 when you clip the on-page 40%-off coupon. You can learn more about this and other item trackers in my Yahoo story; just know that this is the lowest price ever for the SwitchBot and an absolute steal.
🖥️ Extend your workspace: A second monitor can greatly improve your productivity, and a portable one means you can easily tote it to wherever you work. For a limited time, and while supplies last, the Vilva Portable 15.6-inch Monitor is on sale for $39.99, the lowest price on record and — if memory serves — the lowest price I’ve ever seen for a monitor like this. Thin, light, and powered by USB-C, it works with Windows and Mac laptops. It has a “smart” cover/stand and built-in speakers as well. Amazing deal.
Upgrade your pillow for $38 (save $41), thank me later

This is an update of a story that dates back to 2022; I recently saw a TikTok video in which a woman extolled the virtues of this pillow, crowing that “It’s only $80 on Amazon!” And I wondered if my original “deal secret” was still valid.
Yep!
At that time, I’d been waking up with neck pain, making me wonder if it was time for a new pillow. Realizing that sleep is too important to cheap out on, I consulted Consumer Reports, thinking, “Whatever they recommend, I’m buying, price be damned.”
Their top pick (in 2022, and still the number-two choice in 2025): The Coop Home Goods Original Pillow. Price: $79. Honestly, if it would help me sleep better, I’d pay $790 – but, me being me, I still searched the interwebs for a better deal.
Alas, same price at Amazon and Walmart, and not many other stores even carried it. But, then, something weird: I found lots of listings on eBay, most of them priced at $38 (for the queen size). How? Why? Was this some kind of gray-market pillow situation? These weren’t used or refurbished, were they? (I know: ew.) What could possibly account for this kind of discrepancy?
I reached out to Coop PR and never got a response. Okay, then… damn the tor-pillows! I picked an eBay seller with good ratings and placed my order. A few days later, it arrived: Coop packaging, Coop branding, Coop instructions. Fully sealed, brand new.
But was the thing any good? One of The Original’s claims to fame is that you can pull out some of the memory-foam/microfiber fill if it’s too thick for your liking or add more if it’s too flat. (The box included a big bag of extra stuffing.) After a few nights, I ended up removing a few handfuls; that did the trick.
I’ve been sleeping on that same pillow for nearly three years. I know, it’s long past time to replace it, or at least add some fresh filling, but to be honest I haven’t felt the need; it’s still the most comfortable pillow I’ve ever used.
Needless to say, this is highly subjective; everyone has different preferences when it comes to heads on beds. I’m just saying if you want a top-rated pillow at a 50% savings, this is how to get it.
What’s your pillow of choice? Fluff it up in the comments!
PLAYLIST
🍿 Jojo Rabbit (Hulu)
I can’t fully express the depths of my love for this movie, which just arrived on Hulu; I watch it every few years and find it utterly delightful every time.
Jojo Rabbit reminds me of Mel Brooks’ To Be or Not To Be, another wonderful absurdist satire of Nazi Germany. But this movie is even faster, funnier, smarter, more poignant. There are a couple gut-punches, no question, but sometimes you have to take the bitter with the sweet.
The 2019 release generated some understandable controversy, but please don’t be offended on my behalf; I’m Jewish and laughed my head off.
And the message it weaves in is one that’s crucial to understand right now: Just because a maniacal leader says someone is our enemy doesn’t make it so.

🍿 Searching for Sugar Man ($3.99 rental, Amazon, Apple)
Last week I went to Secret Cinema in nearby Birmingham, MI. It’s exactly what it sounds like: You don’t know what the movie is until the lights go down. Fun!
But when I realized it was a documentary… ugh. So often these things are boring or upsetting. I girded myself for a long night.
Within 10 minutes, I was interested. Within 30 minutes, captivated. By the end: blown away. What a story. What a twist. What music! The best part was that I knew absolutely nothing about any of it. If you accept my recommendation, I suggest going in as blind as possible.
Searching for Sugar Man won the Best Documentary Oscar in 2012. Unfortunately, it’s not available to stream free anywhere that I could find, but you can rent it online for just $4. Well worth it, especially if you’re a music fan.

📺 Too Funny to Fail (Hulu)
Ever heard of The Dana Carvey Show? Didn’t think so. That’s because it lasted only eight episodes and effectively tanked the career of one of Saturday Night Live’s biggest stars. The story behind it is absolutely riveting, especially when you see the roster of then-unknown talent that worked behind and before the camera.
I won’t say more; this is yet another example of where it’s fun to be surprised. (“Oh, my god, he was on that show? And him?!”)
The Hulu-original documentary includes interviews with Carvey and lots of other familiar faces, but the real fun is seeing some of the show’s sketches. I’m still chortling over “Germans who say nice things.” Make sure to stay through the credits, too.

Rick, I’ve had this pillow for as long as Consumer Reports rated it. If I recall, it only came in king size at that time and I really wanted the queen. I even bought the smaller one for travel. It’s a great pillow, but I think I need a new one and now in queen size. Thanks for your posting. It is weird that eBay has them for half price and so many sellers. Maybe a truck full of pillows was stolen, ha!
at least this was not a "my pillow" advertisement. 😲
