Flash deal: Sony's stupid-good noise-canceling headphones are just $47 right now (save $101)
They're Sony-certified refurbished with a 2-year warranty -- in other words good as new.

One technology I’m deeply grateful for: active noise-canceling (ANC), which helps dull the roar of airplane engines, reduce the intrusiveness of barky neighborhood dogs when I’m trying to work, and just generally give me peace when I need it.
You’ll see a lot of ANC headphones and earbuds priced at $200, $350, or even $450 (as is the case with Sony’s new WH-1000XM6, which is getting tons of attention right now), but you won’t ever catch me paying that much. Not when you can get kick-ass noise-canceling for considerably less.
And from Sony, ironically. For a limited time, and while supplies last, BuyDig via eBay has the refurbished Sony WH-CH720N ANC headphones for just $47. Price for a new pair: $148.
These are “Certified Refurbished,” meaning they’re in “pristine, like-new condition” and backed by a 2-year Allstate warranty (which is actually double what you get from Sony). Just take note that the packaging will likely be a generic brown box, something to consider if you’re eyeballing this for gift purposes.
Point of interest: The WH-CH720N has the exact same (ANC) circuitry as Sony’s much pricier XM5 headphones. I invite you to read my review (of the former) if you want to learn more.
I thought these were already a good deal at $148. At $47? Outright steal.

somehow my fav cheapskate in the entire world just realized the last noise-cancelling headphones he recommended while employed at CNET are starting to wear out, and the bluetooth compatability is too old to work with my latest samsung phone.
my fav cheapskate is all-wise and all-powerful (sorta like the wizard of oz but without the pyrotechnics)
bonus: although these new headphones apparently don't ship with a case, they are the same size as the noise-cancelling headphones our mighty cheapskate leader recommended a decade ago. so i can reuse the case.
bonus 2: they are lighter than the ones from 10 years ago. the weight difference may seem insignificant, but when flying anywhere, ounces count (and add up).
