Deal Secrets on a Thursday afternoon?! Sometimes circumstances demand a calendar change. Enjoy, and I’ll see you next weekend at the regularly appointed time.
Zoiks! Last week’s $20 pickleball paddle set was very popular with readers but expired all too quickly. This is a good moment to remind you that deals shared here are often available only for a limited time and while supplies last — and sometimes that’s not very long.
The good news is that most of them tend to resurface. And if that doesn’t happen, there’s usually a good alternative. Case in point: Here’s a similar pickleball paddle set that, at this writing, is also on sale for $20. Sale over? Try this one. Struck out again? This one drops to $19.65 (for Prime members) when you clip the 30%-off coupon and apply promo code 15ABXNSL at checkout. You get my point. 😉
Exclusive savings on a Ninja multicooker, Cuisinart coffee grinder, LED light-strip 5-pack and 6 other items, plus free shipping!
I’m trying a new thing! Reseller SideDeal approached me about curating a special product page just for Deal Secrets readers, and so I did. Drawing on the company’s considerable lineup of deeply discounted products, I hand-selected nine (six shown above, the other three below, all accessible via the preceding link) I think you’ll like. Some I’ve used, some I know by reputation, some just seem cool to me.
Before I dive into them, let me talk briefly about how SideDeal works. For any given order, shipping adds $9. But! Exclusive to my readers, applying promo code DEALSECRETS at checkout nets you a $9 discount. It’s a wash.
There’s another hack you may want to consider: SideDeal’s membership option includes free shipping — not just here, but also at sister companies Meh, Morningsave, and Casemates. It costs $6 monthly, so if you want to get crafty, you could sign up for that membership, then use the DEALSECRETS code to knock that $9 off — effectively saving you $3 on any of these items. Then you could cancel the membership.
Now, here’s where things get a little complicated: You can order only one item at a time. So if you want to grab, say, the BoogieBoard VersaTiles Memo Boards 2-pack for $29.99 and Merkury Innovations Smart Wi-Fi LED Light Strips 5-pack for $29.99, you have to add the first one to your cart, go to checkout, apply the code, pay, then circle back and repeat the process with the second one. I know: It’s a hassle.
The good news is that SideDeal gives you free shipping for one hour after you make your first purchase. So if you were to go back for a second item, third item, etc., you wouldn’t get hit with another shipping charge. But the promo code can be used only one time.
All that being said, these products are already priced quite low, in most cases below what you’d find elsewhere.
The Ninja Foodi 9-in-1 6.5-Quart Multicooker, for example, currently runs $150 at Amazon; SideDeal has it for $100. The aforementioned VersaTiles (which are awesome, by the way): $27 at Amazon for one; here you’re getting two for $30. Paincakes reusable ice packs? Ten bucks for two at Amazon, versus 9 for $25 (in assorted sizes) here.
So take a look at the selection and let me know if anything here strikes your fancy. Like I said… it’s an experiment!
Make your next road trip fly by with these two heavily discounted audiobooks (just $6 apiece)
There’s an audiobook I’ve been dying to check out: The Best Strangers in the World: Stories From a Life Spent Listening, by Ari Shapiro. Alas, there’s a long wait to get it from the library, and Audible’s price is a rather steep $22. Then I remembered one of my favorite Audible alternatives: Libro.fm, where the book is currently on sale for just $5.99. Equally great, a portion of the proceeds goes to a local bookstore of your choice. Done and done!
While you’re at it, grab The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne, also on sale for $5.99. I mentioned this book last week; I’m nearly halfway through the paperback and absolutely loving it. Again I’d encourage you not to read the description; this is best when you know little or nothing about the story. Although it deals with some pretty serious stuff, it’s also shocking and outrageously funny in places — I’ve had several mouth-open moments during which my brain said, “Oh my god that did not just happen.”

I used to have a daily routine of checking cheapskate, meh, woot, dealnews, and then slickdeals. Still look at most of these sites every few days now. Had my eye on those "road flares" but the shipping always killed it for me. Thanks for being one step ahead Rick.
